Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners can earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit through their New York State Tobacco Cessation Centers. Currently, four CME-approved programs are available. Nursing contact hours are also available.

  • Performance Improvement Project (20 CME). 
    Accredited through the University at Buffalo and based on the PHS Clinical Practice Guideline for Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence (2008 Update), benchmarks of this program include standard of care assessment, learning goals, and process improvement.
  • Self-Study Booklet (1 CME).
    This program is designed to facilitate adoption of evidence-based practices in tobacco treatment, as described in the PHS Clinical Practice Guideline for Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence (2008 Update).
  • Statewide Collaborative Conference Calls (1 hour of various types of continuing education credit offered depending on content of call).  
    Bi-monthly conference calls featuring lecture and discussion on topics of relevance to tobacco treatment by health care providers. Click here for information on the next Conference Call and how to join in.
  • Additional opportunities for tailored trainings for you and your staff (1 to 6 continuing education credits).
